On 1st January 2010 we released the Tensies single/EP thing which looked forward to the 2010-2019 decade with some enthusiasm. Things didn't quite turn out as hoped and so ten years later we present this "Retrospective" edition for 2020 and beyond.
Included is the updated version of Tensies, along with the original three tracks from the 2010 release (slightly tweaked and remastered for various reasons, not least to remove the unnecessary swearing in "I Remember the Credit Crunch"), plus a bonus instrumental version of Tensies which you can recycle for all future decades.
Here are the updated lyrics for 2020:
Tensies, did we jeopardise the future in the tensies?
You can’t afford an education in the tensies,
Soundbites, memes and lies throughout the tensies,
The dates all had a “one” in the tensies.
I want to see the sun set on the mistakes the Tensies dumped upon us. X2
Tensies, older people set agendas in the tensies,
So my age remained relative in the tensies,
Certain people made some progress in the tensies,
We all fulfilled our purpose in the tensies.
I want to see the sun set on the mistakes the Tensies dumped upon us.
I want to see the sun set on the mistakes this decade dumped upon us.
Oh tensies, technology’s the devil in the tensies,
Big nostalgia for the old days in the tensies,
Yeah tensies, did everything go wrong thoughout the tensies?
No-one even called it tensies in the tensies.
